Helping business owners make confident financial decisions
Running a business means making decisions every day. Investing in new staff, buying equipment, managing cash flow, setting prices, planning for growth.
The challenge isn’t usually a lack of information. It’s knowing what the numbers are really telling you.
That’s where I come in.
I’m Sue Weighell, a Chartered Accountant and Strategic Finance Adviser with many years’ experience helping businesses understand their finances and use them to make better decisions.
I don’t believe finance should be confusing or full of jargon. My role is to turn financial information into practical insight, giving you the confidence to make decisions without feeling you always need to “ask the accountant.”
More than an accountant
Many of my clients don’t need someone to prepare a set of accounts once a year.
They need someone who can help them:
- Understand what their numbers really mean
- Improve cash flow
- Plan for growth
- Build reliable financial systems
- Prepare for board meetings
- Make confident business decisions
Think of me as your trusted finance partner—providing the experience of a Finance Director without the cost of employing one full time.
Why I do what I do
The part of my job I enjoy most isn’t producing reports.
It’s seeing the moment when a business owner suddenly understands their finances and says:
“Now I know what I need to do.”
Because once you understand the story behind the numbers, decisions become easier.
My experience
I’m a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and have spent more than five decades working with businesses of all sizes.
Today I work with:
- Business owners and directors
- Growing SMEs
- Charity trustees and leadership teams
- Businesses that need strategic financial support without a full-time Finance Director
I also specialise in Xero and believe that good financial systems should make life simpler, not more complicated.
My approach
Clients often tell me they value the fact that I explain finance in plain English.
I won’t overwhelm you with technical language or complicated spreadsheets.
Instead, I’ll help you understand what’s happening in your business, identify what matters most, and give you the confidence to move forward.
Because finance shouldn’t just tell you where you’ve been.
It should help you decide where you’re going next.
